STRESS · ANXIETY · BEHAVIOUR CHANGE
You’re coping. But it’s costing you.
You may still be working, parenting, leading, organising and getting everything done, yet feel as though your mind rarely switches off and your body never quite comes down from the pressure.
Perhaps you are exhausted but find it difficult to properly rest, small things are taking more out of you than they used to, or you understand exactly why you react the way you do but still cannot seem to change the pattern.
I help people make sense of what is keeping stress, anxiety and repeated responses going, then work with them to identify what actually needs to change across mind, body and behaviour.
Based in Hamilton, with online sessions available across New Zealand and Australia.

WHEN KNOWING ISN’T LEADING TO CHANGE
You can understand a pattern completely and still keep repeating it.
You might know you need stronger boundaries, that worrying is not helping, or that slowing down would probably be good for you. You may even understand where a particular response came from and recognise the pattern as it is happening.
Yet when the pressure builds, the same response can return.
That does not necessarily mean you need more insight, more discipline or another set of coping strategies.
Behaviour is shaped by a combination of physiology, habits, emotional associations, beliefs, environment, stress load and the role that particular behaviour has come to play. Understanding the pattern is valuable. Understanding what continues to maintain it is often where meaningful change begins.
STRESS IS MORE THAN A MINDSET PROBLEM
Your mind, body and behaviour are constantly influencing one another.
When pressure becomes sustained, stress can begin to show up in many different ways. Sleep may change, concentration can become harder, patience shortens and you may notice more tension, fatigue, changes in breathing, digestive symptoms or a sense of being constantly “on”.
At the same time, your behaviour can begin to shift. You may rush more, avoid things, overthink, take on too much responsibility, find it harder to delegate, procrastinate on simple tasks or feel increasingly unable to stop.
That does not mean every symptom is caused by stress or that every problem is a nervous-system problem. It means that when stress or anxiety becomes persistent, looking only at thoughts can miss important parts of the picture.
My work looks at the pattern as a whole.
IF THIS FEELS FAMILIAR
From the outside, you may look as though you are managing well.
You keep showing up, solving problems, remembering what needs to happen and taking care of the people and responsibilities around you. Because you are still functioning, it can be easy to tell yourself that you should simply be coping better.
But perhaps your brain starts working before your feet hit the floor. You struggle to mentally finish work when the day is over. Noise, interruptions or one more request can suddenly feel like too much. You may find yourself continually rushing, overthinking conversations, reacting physically even when you logically know you are safe, or repeating the same behaviours despite knowing exactly what you would like to do differently.
Being capable can hide a great deal of strain.
You do not need to reach complete burnout before the impact of what you are carrying is worth addressing.
HOW I WORK
Start with the real problem.
I do not assume that everyone experiencing anxiety needs hypnotherapy, that every overwhelmed person simply needs to regulate their nervous system, or that the solution is always learning how to tolerate pressure more effectively.
The first step is understanding what is actually happening.
That means looking at your symptoms, triggers, physiology, current circumstances, stress load, recovery, behaviour and the patterns that keep appearing. From there, we can identify what may be maintaining the problem and decide what kind of intervention is most appropriate.
Depending on your situation, that may involve stress physiology, practical behaviour change, nervous-system or breathing work, recovery and boundaries, subconscious work, or RTT® hypnotherapy.
The approach is personalised, rather than one-method-fits-all.
WAYS TO WORK WITH ME
Different problems need different approaches
Personalised 1:1 Support
For stress, anxiety or repeated patterns where several factors may be contributing, personalised 1:1 work allows us to look at the full picture rather than treating one symptom in isolation.
We explore what is happening across physiology, behaviour, stress load, recovery and underlying patterns, then focus the work where it is most likely to make a difference.
RTT® Hypnotherapy
For people specifically looking for focused hypnotherapy around a belief, emotional association or automatic pattern, RTT® can be used as a targeted intervention.
A standalone session includes preparation, approximately 90 minutes of hypnotherapy and a personalised recording to support the work afterwards.
From $450 NZD.
Anxiety & Panic
For anxiety that feels strongly physical, panic responses that seem to take over before you can reason with them, or fear patterns that continue despite insight, a broader assessment can be helpful.
My approach considers how physical sensations, breathing, anticipation, avoidance, learned associations, stress load and behaviour may be interacting.
PERSONALISED 1:1 SUPPORT
When the problem needs more than one tool.
Sometimes a standalone RTT® session is appropriate. Sometimes the problem is more complex and several factors are keeping it in place.
In those cases, an integrated approach gives us the space to understand the full pattern first rather than forcing your experience into a predetermined method.
The work centres around three questions:
What is happening?
We clarify your symptoms, triggers, physiology, circumstances and repeated patterns so there is a clear picture of what you are actually dealing with.
What is keeping it going?
We look at the behaviours, stressors, beliefs, associations or practical circumstances that may be maintaining the problem.
What needs to change?
From there, we choose the intervention that fits. That may include RTT® where appropriate, alongside behaviour change, stress education, breathing or body-based strategies, or practical changes to the way you are managing day-to-day life.
The Reset Programme
Personalised, structured 1:1 work for people who need more than a single intervention.
Online across New Zealand and Australia.
MEET GENEVIEVE GRAY
A health background. A wider view of stress and behaviour.
BHSc · C.Hyp · RTTP · Physiotherapist
I spent around a decade working as a physiotherapist, including respiratory and neurological rehabilitation, before moving into leadership and later training in hypnotherapy, RTT® and nervous-system work.
That background means I tend to look at problems from several angles rather than beginning with one preferred technique.
I want to understand what is happening physiologically, what is happening behaviourally, what pressure the person is actually under, what keeps repeating and whether the issue is something that needs regulating, something that needs changing, or both.
I am particularly interested in the gap between understanding something intellectually and being able to respond differently when it actually matters.
My work is practical, personalised and grounded in the reality that people have careers, families, responsibilities and full lives. The goal is not to give you another rigid wellbeing routine. It is to help you understand what is keeping you stuck and identify changes that are realistic, relevant and sustainable.

“
What stood out most was how safe and grounded she made the space feel. Her questions helped me connect patterns I hadn't fully understood before. Something shifted in how I see things now, and the recording has been a big part of reinforcing that.

FOR ORGANISATIONS
Supporting people to work well under sustained pressure.
Workplace stress is not solved by telling employees to become more resilient.
My workplace sessions help teams understand what sustained pressure does to attention, behaviour, physiology and recovery, while also recognising the difference between strategies individuals can use and stressors organisations themselves may need to address.
Working Well Under Sustained Pressure
A practical 60-minute workplace workshop covering stress physiology, capacity, recovery and sustainable performance.
FREQUENTLY ASKED
Common questions
-
My main areas of interest are chronic stress, anxiety, panic and repeated behavioural or emotional patterns that continue despite insight.
If you are not sure whether what you are experiencing fits, the initial consultation is designed to help work that out.
-
Rapid Transformational Therapy® is a form of hypnotherapy that explores beliefs, emotional associations and meanings that may be contributing to an automatic pattern.
I use RTT® as one specialist tool rather than assuming it is the answer to every problem.
-
No.
Some people are well suited to a standalone RTT® session. For others, the more useful work may involve physiology, behaviour, stress load, breathing, practical changes or a combination.
We decide that after understanding what is happening, not beforehand.
-
Possibly.
Many people I work with already have considerable insight into themselves. My work is particularly interested in the point where understanding something and being able to consistently respond differently are not the same thing.
This work does not replace psychological or psychiatric treatment where that is what you need.
-
Yes. Individual sessions are available online, so you can work with me from elsewhere in New Zealand or Australia.
-
This service is not designed for acute mental-health crisis care.
If you are experiencing a psychiatric emergency, suicidal thoughts or active self-harm urges, please seek urgent support through your GP, local crisis service or emergency services.
Not sure which approach fits?
You do not need to work that out before you contact me.
A free initial consultation gives us time to talk through what is happening, what you have already tried and what kind of support may make the most sense.
