Hi, I’m Genevieve Gray
RTT® Hypnotherapy Practitioner & Nervous System Educator | New Zealand
BHSc, C.Hyp, RTTP | Physiotherapist · Certified Hypnotherapist · RTT® Practitioner · IICT Member
I'm an RTT® Practitioner and Nervous System Educator, with a clinical background in physiotherapy and over 20 years in the New Zealand health sector. I've worked in respiratory and neurological rehab, led corporate teams through complex change, and spent many years in a long-term caregiving role, which teaches you as much about the nervous system as any textbook.
I come with clinical training and lived experience of sustained load. The clinical understanding of what's happening when a system has been under pressure for a long time, and a clinician's grasp of what reaches the layer underneath.
How I Came to This Work
The clinical training came first. Ten years as a physiotherapist across neuro rehab and respiratory therapy. Stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, the patients in ICU whose breathing had to be relearned. Cardiac rehab and chronic respiratory disease on the respiratory side. Older patients, mobility, the slow work of helping a system rebuild after it's been changed by something. The thread underneath all of it was the body's protective wiring, and how slowly or quickly it learns a different pattern.
Corporate people leadership ran alongside, with everything that comes with leading teams through change, restructure, and growth.
The personal context ran underneath. Years of caregiving for a disabled family member while raising kids and holding a clinical practice. Sustained load is the fastest way to learn what happens to a system that's been running on protective patterns for too long, and what reaches the layer those patterns are stored in.
I came to RTT through that route, looking for what reached the subconscious layer the body work alone couldn't quite touch. RTT goes there. It changes the belief that's been running the pattern, and the body work and the regulation work hold the change while it settles in.
What Makes My Approach Different
RTT® for Root, Regulation for the Body
Most approaches to chronic stress work on one layer. They either teach you to understand your patterns, or they teach you to calm your body. RTT® works at the subconscious level where the pattern is held. Nervous system regulation tools work with how that pattern has been living in your body. Both layers, together.
20+ Years in the NZ Health Sector
Respiratory and neurological rehab, corporate leadership, and long-term caregiving. I understand the system, the pressure, and the reality you're operating in.
Clinical Physiology Background
Bachelor of Health Science in Physiotherapy (BHSc), Certified Hypnotherapist (C.Hyp), and Registered RTT® Practitioner (RTTP). I understand the physiology at a clinical level, and I explain it in a way you can actually use.
Evidence-Informed, Not Trendy
The work draws on polyvagal theory (Porges), Somatic Experiencing (Levine), trauma-sensitive sequencing (Maguire), and interoception research (Mahler). Research-backed frameworks, not wellness trends.
Trauma-Informed Throughout
Trauma-informed throughout. Safety first. Titration, resourcing, external awareness before internal. Your nervous system's capacity sets the pace, not an arbitrary timeline.
